Mindfulness is a type of meditation in which you focus on being intensely aware of what you're sensing and feeling in the moment, without interpretation or judgment. Practicing mindfulness involves breathing methods, guided imagery, and other practices to relax the body and mind and help reduce stress.

    Mindfulness is also a key component in the recent calls for equity in marginalized communities. At it's core, mindfulness means to be "aware" and non-judgmental. If you are in touch with the community and aware of the circumstances that individuals within the community goes through, theoretically you would judge them less. When stress levels are lower we tend to have a more positive world view. When you combine that with empathy and compassion for others, it creates a sense of unity, which fosters equity and inclusiveness.
